Hi,

I'm very new to DNN and I'm trying to learn about it now. Now, in one of my DNN projects, I have to do one enhancement.

In the login form of DNN, we usually have Username and Password to enter into the CMS. After we enter the username and password, the input data should go first to the web service to get the authentication(SAP system). If the web service returns true, the entry data will be checked against with database(the regular flow).

My question is, where can I get the input data(username and password) to go and check with the web service?

If there is a similar thread, please guide me to see.

Thanks & Regards,

Aung

You will most likely need to look at building a custom authentication provider - for dnn to operate it needs to create a user account for every individual user that logs into the site.  This is to allow things like messaging and permissions to operate correctly.

With a custom provider you can build code that handles the web service communications and the creation of dnn user accounts that are automatically kept in sync with your SAP backend.

Thanks to all.

I've created custom DNN authentication provider by referring to above URL http://www.theaccidentalgeek.com/post/2009/07/13/DotNetNuke-Tips-and-Tricks-12-Creating-your-own-Authentication-Provider.aspx.

That's really helpful!! Now I can manage to implement web service to authenticate the user first.

Thanks in advance.

Aung
