Hi, I'm trying to understand the relationship between a Page Name, Title and the URL of a page.

Specifically, I've got a site in which the main page was originally given a long name. So all the URLs for pages under this page would end up being long.

I decided to change the main page to "Home"  in order to make the URLs shorter. I changed both Page Name and Page Title to "Home".

But alas, the URLs for the pages underneath still use the orignal, long name in their path.

Is there a way to fix it so that the paths to those pages use Home instead of the original long name?

Thanks

Tom

Tom,
Did you restart the app via the Host Menu?

You should also be careful when renaming pages. Renaming a page breaks the original URL and only the new URL will now work.

Thanks for your replies!

@Mike - I have never done that before, but I just tried and it had an error - couldn't find the web.config file. Is restarting the application something that is often needed? Is it risky (don't want to bring the whole site down!!)

@Chris - In this case, I actually want to break the URL. The reason I am changing the page name from 'Environmental Health Services' to 'Home', is partly because I want to shorten the URL to pages in the site.

For example:

http://scceh.com/EnvironmentalHealthS...
would become:
http://scceh.com/Home/Programs/SiteMi...

but so far, it seems to retain the old URL only, even though the page name, breadcrumb, etc reflect the new page title.

Thanks :)

Tom
