Good morning

I am new to DNN (C# MVC developer primarily ) and  have been dropped into a  position (without any in house support) to maintain and enhance a couple of working DNN portals.  My first task is to move them off a 2003 server and get them running on new 2012 servers.  I copied the entire directory, had the DBAs back up and restore the DotNetNuke database (keeping all user authentication IDs) on the new server, edited the HTTPAlias  values in the DNN_PortAlias table and updated the PortalSettings table.  I set the IIS Authenitication to Windows Auth (all others disabled).  All versions of .NET framework are installed.  When I enter the url and try and pull up the page I am prompted to log into IIS (on a box I have already logged into) and it will throw an HTTP 401.1 Unauthorized error.    I see in the DNN root directory a Default .aspx page that if I try browsing to the page (via right click)  tells me that the domain name doesn't exist in the the Database. The ErrorPage.aspx can however be browsed to in the same fashion.  I tried following some how to sites on how to achieve the migration of an existing server but I'm not having any luck.  Does anything here sound familiar?  The 2003 site runs fine, I'm just not sure what I have missed.

Thank you.

Sounds like the issue is in the security configuration of the application pool.

Check the log files to see if they provide any details on what is going on.  They are located in ...\Portals\_default\Logs

Also check the EventViewer table in the database.

I built a simple Hello World type MVC application, copied it to the same underlying file directory  and used the same App pool.  The MVC app works fine but the DNN app keeps putting up Windows Security windows.  Thanks.
