Hi all,

I have my website as an application of Windows Azure but I would like to know how to increase loading speed of my website, even when you are editing or browsing some page because it is so slow in this moment and I don't know how to improve the speed which is about 20 seconds for anything that you want to do. This is the url of my website: alfadev.azurewebsites.net I've been testing the loading time with this site http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ just in case someone want to try to see what's going on.

I would be very grateful if someone of you help me to solve this issue.

Thank you

Fabian P.

Fabian,

First and foremost, the pingdom and a web-browser console (in my case Firefox's) say your site creates a 404 error about skin.css.

Probably you should look for a malformed tags in your additional scripts. It's just a wild guess so late at night in Poland, though. :)

as well as fixing the skin.css 404 issue you'll want to take a look at page size - whilst the page loads in 2.8 seconds for me I have a fast internet connection so users with a slower connection will see slow speeds as the page is 1.4MB in size. The obvious candidates are the 5 banner images which are 855KB of the total i.e. more than 60% of your page load time is for 5 banner images

You should also profile your site.  It may indicate a slow response from the database causing your web server to be held back waiting for SQL responses which then backlogs all other pending requests.

Looking at your site however - I would suspect that there is something more deeply wrong with the way the hosting is configured.
It feels like the hosting is restarting on every page request ... if you go into the site event log - are there a lot of restart events being logged.
It this is the case you need to look at why ... how exactly do you have the hosting configured. What memory allocation does the app pool have.
What sort of cloud space configuration are you using.
