Does anyone have any thoughts or comments on what data model is best for using silverlight within DNN?  I'm trying different ones . . . web service, wcf, silverlight enabled wcf, wcf ria services (which I think was replaced by silverlight enabled wcf) and I'm just having the darnest time.  Thanks to Michael Washington's site - http://dnnsilverlight.adefwebserver.com/. It's a great start.

Everything on http://dnnsilverlight.adefwebserver.com uses standard .asmx web services. It is possible to use WCF but my issues are how easy is it o install it on other sites. If you are only developing for yourself "in-house" then this is not an issue. But, if a person doesn't have IIS configured properly (for example they have Forms and integrated authentication checked), WCF may not work when they install a module. As far as WCF RIA, first I had to do way to much to get it working, then weeks later, I had to remove the WCF RIA sample that I had because they would stop working at odd times! So, if you feel you must go with WCF good luck, but when working with DotNetNuke I stay with .asmx web services and I don't have any problems :)

Thanks Michael!!  That was very helpful.  I got the asmx web services working just fine (with your help), but wanted to push it into the wcf/linq world.  I also was putting way too much work into it and it's becoming exhausting.  I'll just stick with web services for now.

Thanks!
