It's available but honestly I haven't seen too many people make use of it over the years. There is one Forge module (by Will Strohl) that utilizes this today (probably a few others too).

as Chris says it's used much less these days (many folks use jquery plugins instead), however there are some enthusiastic supporters and a number of useful widgets - the wiki covers most of them - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Widget.aspx
