Ok, I understand the best thing to do is, move on to another module, but unfortunately that's no option now. I would want to, but my boss won't let me.

So, how can I get this thing to work as properly as possible?
You say 'Depending how the event is setup in the scheduler'. What do I have to setup then?
I don't have a Search Indexer task in the Scheduler, at least so it seems. Maybe it's named differently? Or do I have to add it manually?!

Joost,

RSS is an XML data structure and needs some transformation to be displayed. Obviously IE does this better than Chrome, but in any way the feeds should be consumed by a reader that is configured to display the information properly.

Best wishes
Michael

Joost,

under Host :: Schedules, there is a job callled "Search Engine Scheduler" that runs every 30 minutes by default. This is quite enough normally, and if your boss wants to see the RSS feed immediately, you should explain him that it is part of an RSS feed not to be synchronous - an RSS feed is used to display some more or less current information off the website itself (other web site, Desktop gadget, whatever...) and provide a link to the actual information.

As I mentioned before and as Mike confirmed, F&L is not really a "News" module, and DNN's basic RSS capabilities are not giving you a lot of options - they serve for any module that has the ISearchable interface implemented, and as you can imagine, there are a lot and a lot of different use cases to fit, so don't expect to get something sophisticated. All of the modules I mentioned (and sorry @Mike, I don't know digArticles, but propably this as well, and a lot of others too) will do a better job.

Best wishes
Michael

Ok, I understand, thank you.

But it seems my problem is that there aren't coming any feeds out of the F&L-module. So, there's nothing to consume or display.

Is that because I don't have a scheduler configured (correctly)?

I would be satisfied if:
- Each time a new item is added to the F&L, the subscribers receive a message.
The content of that message or its display are only of second importancy.

Sorry, our posts crossed...

First, thank you very much for your time and effort.

I will report for sure that for proper RSS-use its better to switch to another module for the news-section.
However, I still want the thing to work in its current form.
Am I right that the correct functionality would be that each time a new item is added to the F&L, that there should be a message going to a subscriber that something has changed in the website?

I have the Search Engine Scheduler running every minute now, so something isn't working. I want to find out what that is. Maybe I'd have the same problem with other modules anyway.
