Hi :-)

How do I create a module for DotNetNuke v.6 in Visual Studio 2010 which connects to a database, without using a DataSource control ?

I am a beginner in DotNetNuke and I want to fully understand how to create modules. I have referred Google and I found two links which I think are good, but I need a simple example that includes better comments and connects to the database without using a DataSource control.

Maria, DNN 6 is meanwhile out of date (as VS2010).
I would use Module templates from Chris Hammond (http://christoctemplate.codeplex.com/) with VS 2013 (express)

Chris Hammond's template is great to work with. I've been using it for a few years and the latest version really does a lot of the more grunt work for you (CRUD operations).

Like Sebastion said, v6 is fairly old and you may want to consider upgrading to 7.x.x and then using the latest VS template from Chris on codeplex.

Good luck and let us know if you need anything else.

Mark
