Hi,

I've installed the new Events_03.03.07_Install.zip that appeared on teh downlaods page a short while ago and am testing it out.

Two things.. the first thing that happens is all instances of the module stop work and require the admin to go in and click update in the settings page. Is this absolutely necessary.. could it not get itself going without that step..because this means that I might have to go into loads of portals and reset the module everywhere. I dont' mind if I really have to, but would just like to know beforehand.

The other thing is list mode... how do I get that working again?
In my test instance I have Events-A on one page with full calendar view. Then I have Events-B on the homepage with just a tiny list view. I managed to get this working fine in the previous Events Module (not the recent beta), but now I can't make it work.

I can see the settings for a default module view, and in Events-B I have set that to "List" and ticked "Only view", but the module still displays the full Events-A calendar. Previously it just displayed the list.

Hang on... I've just noticed that when I log out, I see the list and it now also has a little categories drop-down above it. That's real nice.. but it's not real nice to have the full size calendar in the module when logged in.. it makes a mess of the page for content editors.

The old module had a setting called "Disable Event Month View Table for non-edit users". I expect this is what that was for... is there a way to get the same effect now?

Any assistance is appreciated,

Rob

One more thing about this..

When the list item is clicked on, it used to display the event on the other page where Events-A sits. Now it displays it right there in Events-B where it was clicked on.. and stuffs up the whole page as a result.

It looks to me like this particular way of using this module has been lost.

This is a warning to anyone using the last full version of the module, not the beta, that installing it may well stuff up your site. After another hour playing with it, I just can't make it work as it always did.

The old module made use of the list view to show a small list of events sourced from a module on another page. When clicked on, the items would display as full events in the admin skin. Using the admin page wasn't ideal, but it was definitely better than what is happening now.

If I try and use the new module on its own on the homepage.. then set it to the new tiny calendar view, the whole point of it being tiny is lost as soon as one clicks on an event.. the full event view displays right there inline rather than in a separate admin page.

Now I've lost list view altogether... it doesn't seem to be enough to select List View off the dropdown. Even ticking "Only view" doesn't set it... arghh.. clearing cache isn't bringing it back... weird. I give up for now.

Actually...the subcalendar reference will take care of this...1) setup two different instances of the calendar, one on the main page and one on another page (could be hidden) 2) on the hidden page calendar add events  3) on the main page instance, reference the hidden calendar as a subcalendar and set the list mode only on this page.  The operation of the Event module was based on providing the most requested features and flexibility...Check my site for examples of how you might setup the module instances...I can assure you once you learn how to operate it (including themes), I think you will be happy.

This is ok ... but...

Manipulating the database I obtained a sort of cross-portal calendar of events displayng events of each portal in one calendar, then i had both a list view (one year long)  and a month view.

Now since the master/sub is limited to one level i can't obtain the same result with latest version.

In addidion (I have to check more) it seems sub calendar events aren't displayed in RSS feeds. If this is true data collected from more subcalendars, from different sections even on the same portal,  can't be exposed as RSS feed.
