Is there a way to set the categories to roles in the calendar module? For ex. there are two roles Nurse and Doctor,  I want only doctors to see events attached to a doctor category.

Specify solution.

Accepted Answer 

No it is not possible to do this currently. You cane achieve a similar effect by having two instances of the module, visible only to the appropriate security role. If you need a consolidated view, make them both sub-calendars to another instance.
