I upgraded my events module from 4.0.2. to 5.0.2 but now it is not working any more. I get an "A critical error has occurred.
Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero."  Also this error comes up in the module on one of my portals but is not happening on the module in another portal which I should say the working one has no events in it ... Recurring events upgrade not complete .. when I click restart upgrade it says .. restarted upgrade did not complete, please investigate further ..

I cannot view events, add, or edit events

For anyone else suffering this problem. Please provide as much detail as possible:-

  • What version of Events are you upgrading from? 4.0.2
  • What version of Events was your first install? not sure, probably 4.0.2.
  • What version of DNN are you on?  4.9.04
  • What version of SQL Server are you using? 2008
  • Have you checked that AutoUpgrade=True in your web.config? Yes
  • Have you checked in the Module Settings to see if the 'Restart Upgrade' link is visible next to a red banner warning that the upgrade isn't complete? does not do the trick, "I get an investigate further message"
  • Were there any errors on the initial module install screen? None at all ..
  • Is an error displayed when you access the module? I can get in the settings fine but the argument error I stated previously is the major issue.
Thanks in Advance,

Chase

It looks like there is a minor issue with the upgrade. This problem was a weekly occuring event which had an 'until' the date the same as 'start' date. In theory allowable. However the date entered was a Thursday, whilst the event had been configued to only happen on a Wednesday. So... This is logically incorrect, and the module shouldn't have allowed it to be added (I'll check what happens on the current version!!), but we need to allow for it in the upgrade. I'll get this fixed in 5.0.3.

In essence this one event didn't get upgraded or deleted, and was causing the error when the module tried to display it.

Hello, I just upgraded to 5.0.3 (on my staging server) from 4.0.2 and encountered the same error. Did the issue described above get in fixed in 5.0.3 and I've encountered something new? DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. ---> System.ArgumentException: Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings.Left(String str, Int32 Length) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventRecurMasterController.DecomposeRRULE(String strRRULE, DateTime DTStart) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.TokenReplaceControllerClass.TokenReplaceEvent(EventInfo eventInfo, String sourceText, Dictionary`2 dict, EventSignupsInfo eventSignupsInfo, Boolean addsubmodulename) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventList.BindDataGrid(SortFilter sortExpression, SortDirection sortDirection) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventList.BindDataGrid() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventList.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

-something clever or funny.
