 I would recommend you start with 5.1.4, not 5.1.0, as there were some fixes to bugs from 5.1.0 included in the later 5.1.* releases.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I just tried upgrading to 5.1.4 and again I got errors and lost the login page.

Here is the installation process:

Looks like the sql got done but something else failed.

"Executing Application Upgrades: 05.01.00 Error!" error seems to be common in both upgrades.

Not sure why I get a "00:00:07.937 -   Executing Application Upgrades: 05.00.00 Error!" this time, since this step worked with my 5.1 upgrade trial.

Do you think I should go for the sql upgrade to 2005 first? I am not sure if these errors are related to that.

The errors you're getting aren't likely SQL related, based on the log you posted. You might try your site now and see if you can find more detail in the Event Viewer (event log) on those errors to see if you can get better details. I imagine it is likely something with the web.config files not getting updated properly, but I could be wrong.
