Hi,

I really need help with this issue. I have created a module package with DNN version 4.9.0. Now, we are trying to migrate to the DNN version 5.01.03. When I try to install my module package in the new DNN version, I get a very cryptic error:

A critical error has occurred.
Version string portion was too short or too long.

Can someone help me with this? Does it mean that a module created in ver 4.9 cannot be installed in ver 5.01.03? Please help.

Thanks.

Most 4.9 modules, if properly done, will install in DNN 5.x without an issue. Based on the error, are you specifying xx.xx.xx (ie. 01.00.01) for your version format?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I looked at the dnn file, and there are 2 places were the version is specified, one is the dnn version and the other is the module version. My dnn file has the following in those elements:

<dotnetnuke version="3.0" type="Module">

<version>01.01.01</version>

I do not know why the dotnetnuke version is specified as "3.0" - because when I go to the host settings of the dnn installation from where I create the module package, the version shows 04.09.00. Should I change the "3.0" to "03.00.00" to comply?

Thanks.

The XML version 3.0 should be fine in that file.
