I've been trying to upgrade from 04.09.03 for a while now with not much success. I believe to upgrade the site, I simply unzip the upgrade package over the existing folder and then load the home page? When I try this, I get the following compilation error (PDF document):

http://www.eastcheshirecamra.org.uk/L...

Any ideas?

Thanks, Rob.

HI Rob, the PDF does not work. Is it possible you could post the issue here without the PDF so it's easy to view and search later?

Thanks

Alex Shirley

Later... okay, I could upgrade from 04.09.03 to 04.09.05 and that worked fine. However, the same compilation error occured. I then found this thread: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/200/threadid/357602/scope/posts/Default.aspx It shows how to edit download.vb to change Web.HttpResponse to the fully resolved System.Web.HttpResponse. The article suggests only one edit is required, but in 05.04.00 I found two references. This then allowed the upgrade to run and although there were several error messages in the upgrade script and the upgrade throw a "Thread is terminating error", it appears to have upgraded. This was all done in a test VM so I'll rollback the snapshot and check those upgrade errors in detail. Oh the power of VMs :-) Cheers, Rob.

Later... the site upgraded from 04.09.03 to 04.09.05 okay but same problem when I tried to jump to 05.04.00. However, I came across this thread:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/F...

Which describes the same error I was getting:

Type 'Web.HttpResponse' is not defined

The thread discusses fully qualifying Web.HttpResponse completely as System.Web.HttpResponse in one routine in download.vb. I actually found there were two references which needed editing.

After making the edit, the the upgrade ran. There were a couple of errors which disappeared because the thread aborted. But the website appeared to run after upgrade.

This is all in a VM so I can rollback easily and try again to find the upgrade errors. It's late this evening so it'll have to wait until another day.

Don't know why the link before didn't work - here's a working thread:

http://www.eastcheshirecamra.org.uk/L...

Cheers, Rob.

Just correcting my post, there are two references in download.vb but they are:

Web.HttpResponse -> System.Web.HttpResponse
Web.HttpContext -> System.Web.HttpContext

Cheers, Rob.
