Hi,

Could you outline what I need to do to upgrade from 5.31 to 5.42? Please assume that I do not know how to program and that I don't know how config files work or what iis is for.

DNN version 5.31
Sql Server Version Express
Windows: 2003
Dedicated server at Godaddy
Also running Active Social 1.6
Control Panel: Plesk

First you need to backup the site and database so you can roll back if needed!

Then download the upgrade package to the desired target version.

Then unzip the upgrade package over the top of your DNN installation.

Then navigate to www.yoursite.com/install/install.aspx?mode=install

It will trigger the upgrade for you.

Just be 10000000% sure that you have the backup first!!

^What he said.  I shouldn't have to search a forum that doesn't even have a sticky howto at the top for upgrading to know that this is how to do it.
