Anybody have any words of wisdom before I take my website with custom modules using purchased telerik code, to the modern DNN era?  I have a couple of concerns before upgrading to the community version of the latest DNN.

1.  Will I still have access to the source code for the community version of DNN, and the standard modules, in case I need to tweak or modify something?

2.  Will I lose any capability that I had in the 4.9.5 version by moving to a "community edition" with less features?

3.  Since the default portal code now uses telerik controls, will there be any issues with my custom modules that use older version of the telerik controls that I purchased separately?

4.  I use a Content Manager module that allows me to let registered users edit some of my HTML content, and then submit it for approval by an administrator so that the portal stays current.  Does the community edition allow this now as a standard feature?

5.  Any known issues with any of these modules being compatible with DNN 6.1 (or not having an upgraded version)?  My dozens of custom modules aren't shown below.  I just want to get an idea of how much work this migration will take for my portal.

Sorry about the duplicate thread. First time I posted I got a DNN error, so I didn't think it had posted.

Also, is the source code available for Active Forums now? I'd like to port my old forum into the new standard Active Forum version if the code is now available.

I upgraded into a sandbox.  Not sure if I'll keep it, but I am happy to report that my custom modules with telerik controls still work.

great to hear about your success.

Regarding your questions:

  1. All versions Community Editionsm provide full access to source code for all DNN code (not included Telerik controls and other 3rd party components included). From the module point of view, only admin modules and HTML module are still bundled. you may download updated versions for all other formerly bundled modules from codeplex.
  2. I am not aware of any missing features in DNN 6 CE copared to 4.9.5, except deprecated memory caching provider and compression
  3. Using the redirect clause in Web.config, all modules should work without a second set of Telerik to be used
  4. HTML module CE version has now a "staging" workflow, which allows to create new versions and "publish" it later.
    Other modules are not affected
  5. For all 3rd party modules, please make sure to use latest versions! (I remember at least one of them had a severe security issue years ago). Regarding core modules: UserDefinedTable has been renamed to Form and List (dnnfnl.codeplex.com) with great new features.
