Admin and Host menu are now located in Control Panel at the top, make sure in Host settings you are using "Ribbon Bar" control panel or install Advanced Control Panel from www.oliverhine.com. Check your DNN eventlog (in Admin menu) frequently for hidden errors.

Andy,

as I see you use(d) MLAdvAnnouncements, I guess you also use PageLocalization - if yes you should install Sacha's patch from the project site on CodePlex, and be aware that this module is not working with .Net 4 - so take care to install only modules that don't require the latest .Net version(s).

Best wishes
Michael

@Sebastian: Thanks, I had to switch the RibonBar somehow. It was working after the upgrade but then I got curious and tried the other panels. However, when I switched back to RibonBar I got some exceptions and couldn't access the site anymore. The only solution I found was changing it via database into IconBar.ascx, but IconBar.ascx didn't allow access to the Host and Admin menu, so I had to toggle the visible flag in the database for the host and the admin menu, which did let the two menus reappear the same way it was before the upgrade. I will have a look into Oliver Hines control panel next :) This seems to be even better than the IconBar.

@Michael: Thank you too. Very interesting. I use PageLocalization indeed but I have not yet experienced any problems. I am still on 2003 / .NET 3.5 though. I found the thread where you mentioned that it will break with .NET 4.0 (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F...) . Good to know which problems I will face in the future, I was already thinking about an upgrade path to Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 and using .NET 4.0.

KInd Regards / Andy

To come back to the ribbon bar problem, it is maybe connected to the problem Michael mentioned. Some kind of localization problem from looking at the stack back trace. The code runs a query against the tabs table, if i remember correctly, expecting a field named adminTabId which is not there anymore. So far no other modules or control panels have complained about this missing field.

Kind Regards / Andy

Hi,
I know its an old post and I think Im in the right place.
I have big problems with upgrading my two old 4.9.5 installations with apollo modules.

My platform is Windows 2008 R2 + SQL Server 2008 R2 + .Net framework 4

I have spent all night and found nothing useful.

Michael mentioned something I really care.
Please give me some clue to start.

Thanks

Sean Tsang
