Hi,

I've copied a site hosted by PowerDNN for my client onto my local dev platform.  I resolved orphaned database user logins and am using the loopback URL dnndev.me with port 83 assigned to this site.  All files were pulled from the hosting account and when I browse to it on my server, I receive An Error Has Occurred x3.

I ensured that the database login works by logging into SSMS with those credentials.  I also changed the SiteSqlServer connection string Data Source = (local) and to the local server name.  All skins were also copied from the hosting account.

What other tasks must I complete to ensure the site loads locally?   Thanks much for your expeditious reply.

Does any page load or does this error appear when you attempt to load it for the first time?

Look in the table called EventLog to see if detailed errors are being written.

Lastly, did you update the values in the PortalAlias table?

If you restore the production database to a developer database you Need to remap the SQL Login User Name with the database user using the sp_change_UserLogin procedure.

Also update the 2 Connection strings on the web.config file for use the new database Server and database.

Best regards

Matthias

I added dnndev.me into the PortalAlias table.  When I browse to the site now, I see Domain Name does not exist in the Database.  Do I need to recycle the app pool in order for the PortalAlias entry to take affect?  Also, does the dnndev.me entry need to include the port number (I'm using 81 or dnndev.me:81 to browse to the site locally).

Thanks,

Sid
