We are migrating all out sites to Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012 (from Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005).

Our version of DNN is 06.02.02 (125).  We can't upgrade to the latest due to the skin.  (Then vendor have gone out of business so we can't just buy an updated skin).

As is we get this error, and we have tried to change the version of DNN, changed the mode from Integraed to Classic, made sure the files have permissions for NetworkServices.  Change AppPool to run under NetworkServices.  But keep getting the same error.

One other approach I've tried was to upgrade to a minor version 06.02.04.  The updated runs successfully, but when you brows to the site after the update you get this error below.  I'v checked and there is not DotnetNuke.config file the root folder.    Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

Lyndon

Hi lyndon,

Some thing to check...

The app pool should run under Integrated and not classic.

- Have you checked that the database has the right permissions "Network Service"

- Is the App pool running on asp.net 4.x, if not try that

- Has the file directory got the right permissions ( 'Network Service')?

- When transferring the files did you on-block the zip file if you used a zip to transfer?

Another thing you can try is to set the skin of the site to a standard Dnn skin to see if the problem lays with the skin.

I don't know if this will help you but it might find the problem.

Regards,

Geoff

Thanks for the quick response Geoff,

The app pool should run under Integrated and not classic.  Have tried both

- Have you checked that the database has the right permissions "Network Service" Not sure how to check this one?

- Is the App pool running on asp.net 4.x, if not try that Yes

- Has the file directory got the right permissions ( 'Network Service')? Yes

- When transferring the files did you on-block the zip file if you used a zip to transfer? I used Mercurial to clone my repository from bitbucket.org.  Have done this many times without problems.

Another thing you can try is to set the skin of the site to a standard DNN skin to see if the problem lays with the skin.  Do you need to do that on the original site before making a copy?

I don't know if this will help you but it might find the problem. Thanks for the help.
