Hi, I'm running DNN 7.1.2 on production site (Government site with many portals) . I have been planning to upgrade to DNN 8.0 (currently running aan 8.0,3 upgrade on a test server) . BNow that I see DNN 9 is coming out, I''m curious whether I should just skip DNN 8 and go straight to DNN 9.  What are the pros and cons of trying this? IS it better to upgrade to DNN8 before going to DNN 9? Or better to skip DNN 8?

Since DNN9 hasn't been released yet (I think that target date is 12/8), I would recommend upgrading to DNN8.

Then, give DNN9 a couple of weeks or more before upgrading a production site.

In both cases, you should do the upgrades first on a copy of production sites. Always make full installation backups, too.

Thanks for the reply.. I figured that would be the best path, and am planning to do so..
Do you know whether it will be possible to upgrade from version 7 to version 9 without going to version 8? Just curious.

Now that DNN 9 is out, do you know whether it will be possible to upgrade from version 7 to version 9 without going to version. I am in a similar situation where I need to upgrade a government site from DNN 7 to DNN 9. Can I upgrade directly or should I upgrade to DNN 8 first and then DNN 9 next.

Of course, I will do all of this in a test environment first.
