Hello.

We've recently upgraded to DNN 9.1 and most things have gone smoothly. Unfortunately, although the contents of our HTML modules are appearing on each page, attempting to 'Edit Content' simply leads to an empty popup displaying, with no CKEditor. Similarly, attempting to access the HTML module 'Settings' raises the error: Error: is currently unavailable. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Unknown server tag 'dnn:DnnComboBox'.

We've updated to the latest version of the CKEditor on GitHub 'CKEditor-Provider_2.1.6.0_Install_DNN8.zip', but are still seeing the errors above.

Can anyone offer a solution to this problem? This is holding back the upgrade of our production site and any opinions would be very helpful.

Thanks for your time.

I'm not sure there should be any leftover references to any controls like DnnComboBox with the scenario you've mentioned. Are you sure this is related to the HTML Module itself?

As far the empty popups are concerned, I've seen this before with various conflicts. Completely clearing all of the cache and cookies for the site has resolved that for me in the past.

Hello.

I'm quite sure the problem was the HTML module (9.1 after upgrading our 'test' DNN 8.0.4 site to DNN 9). We have a fresh DNN 9 install on a local dev machine (dnndev.me). Using this, I exported a package (HTML module 9.0.2) then uninstalled the HTML module (version 9.1) from our 'test' site and installed HTML 9.0.2 after which these problems disappeared.

I had previously read a post on these forums (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/forums/for...) where Sebastian Leupold had stated 'DNN includes DNNConnect CKeditor provider, which is derived from Watchers.Net provider, the one you had installed. for some reason, during an upgrade the original provider is not replaced.'

So it looks like a fresh DNN 9 install will have a working HTML module (9.0.2) but an upgrade won't.

Thank you for your response, Will.

If you upgrade a site running Watchers.net CK Editor, you might need to switch to dnnconnect CKEditor fpr DNN 9 (in Persona Bar: Settings > Site Settings > Other > HTML Editor button
