Heyo,

I tried to update a website from DNN 4 to DNN 5 but the upgrade didn't work, so I decided to start from scratch. I was able to get my custom modules to work, but I can't get a clean build. I keep running

into errors like this

. All that I changed from the raw version was adding my modules. Anyone else have issues like this?

Kevin

Are you on ASP.net 3.5SP1 or ASP.Net 4.0?

Hey Sebastian!

I had 3.5 SP1 installed and I thought installing 4.0 might help but it didn't.

the class mentioned should be available in ASP.Net since 3.5 SP1 (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/de-de/library/system.web.dynamicdata.metamodel.aspx#Mtps_DropDownFilterText).Make sure to compile against .Net 3.5 Sp1

Sebastian,

I checked to see what version I was compiling, and I am using .NET 3.5 (though, not SP1).  I did some searching and I found this entry in  Scott Hunter's blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/scothu/archive/2008/06/23/how-to-add-dynamic-data-to-an-existing-web-site.aspx

I followed his instructions and installed Dynamic Data on the site and it seemed to get rid of a lot of my errors.  But then (and I think this may have to do with my ignorance towards namespaces, as you may recall from the last thread you helped me out with) I got a "Could not load type Dummy." error.  I thought this was related to the fact that when I followed the instructions on Scott's blog and created the "Dummy" dynamic data project, I called it dummy.  I had a look at the code behind and saw the name of the control and thought it would work if I took out the "Dummy".  But when I did, I got the sam "Could not load type..." error.  I've tried searching, but couldn't find anything that could help.

Thanks,

Kevin
