I have installed, and re-installed the DNN development environrment many times.  I am unable to see or work with the database.mdf file in the localhost dnn app_data folder from within SQL Server 2008 or VS 2008 Pro.  Every attempt to find and add this database into SQL Sever or VS fails or destroys the database file requiring a restore.  I am at the point where I need to start defining tables, fields, and keys within DNN for my module developement.  Would someone help me with a clear set of instructions on how to attach the DB to SQL Server 2009 and VS 2008 Pro so I can work with the tables?

Thanks,

Paul

Paul, file based connection does not support opening the database with VS or SSMS. I usually prefer to use an attached database instead, for instructions please read here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryId/1202/DNN-SQLExpress-SQL-Server-Management-Studio.aspx
