We have implemented a shopping cart module in DNN. We use ajax to POST data to a cart.ashx file. The 400 response message is simply "Bad Request." On our other non-DNN sites, this 400 response is accompanied by JSON with detailed error codes. Does DNN define or prevent this response message. We are at a loss. It's the exact same code calling the same external API yet two different responses.

it may be a url rewriting issue, but that would surprise me as AFAIK DNN ignores .ashx requests. However the best way to check is to use a http proxy such as Fiddler where you can view the requests (and see any rewrites) and confirm that the data is the same, as well as inspect the body of the response (perhaps the 400 has more information that will help debug)
