Dear Joe,

Is Catalook fully responsive design for mobile phones when I use the TIDY skin: http://tidy.skinsbyadammer.com/

Portrait and landscape?

IDEAL payments fully functional out-of-the-box? I only need an IDEAL account?

PayPal payments fully functional out-of-the-box? I only need an PayPal account?

Credit Card payments fully functional out-of-the-box? I only need an PayPal account?

Hi Johan,

I would suggest for you to contact the creator of the Tidy skin, the contact details should be on the codeplex site.

Another way you can go about debugging your problem would be to use Chrome's "Inspect elements" (Deleoper tools) to see what you will need to change.

It shouldn't be that hard,

Another thing you can do is to make the site fixed width (i.e. not responsive) and then the site should look the same as the desktop version, but scale to the size of other devices.

Regards,

Geoff

Johan,

I do not know if Catalook is fully responsive or not. I have not worked on any ecommerce sites in quite a few years.  For most of the DNN solutions, I think you need to be prepared to allocate some development hours to get things configured and adjusted to work the way you want it too. In my experience, most ecommerce solutions out of the box only provided about 90-95% of what my customers needed, and I often had to customize templates, modify a skin or do some other small amount of development work to make things behave the way I wanted it.  If you don't have the dev skills, I know that there are many consultants in the community who could help you with the one or two bits that need adjusting to make a solution like Catalook or NBStore work for you.

We come with responsive design enabled out of the box.  You don't have to lift a finger as long as your site's skin is also using bootstrap.  While there are other ecommerce solutions available for DNN, it's been my experience in nearly everything that I've done... You get what you pay for.  Moving forward with an ecommerce solution is like a long term relationship.  Once you dive in, there's not turning back - not for a very long time.  Moving to another solution is very hard, time consuming, and sometimes up to 5 times more expensive as the original deployment.

I am saying that to say this...  Take your time with this decision.  Do as much testing and due diligence before choosing a solution so that you are confident that you have chosen the right one for now.  Here are a couple of articles to help you along the way.

I wanted to post a link to the DotNetNukeFool site as well, but the site appears to be down at the moment.  Robb Bryn runs that site and has done a large number of e-commerce deployments and has evaluated nearly every solution for DNN, except Hotcakes so far.  Once that site is up, please take a read through his articles for some more unbiased reviews.

I am sending him a message now to bring his site up.

Good luck! :)

Some very good advice from Will, "you get what you pay for!"

Also as Will stated tell your client to make the right choice, its hard work and allot of time to start over.

Good luck,

Geoff
