Also, when I try to access the Text property of the control I get the error: editor.Text' threw an exception of type 'System.Web.HttpException' base {System.Runtime.InteropServices.ExternalException}: {"Cannot get inner content of DivRichTextBox because the contents are not literal."}

I figured it out. I had the creation of the TextEditor in the Page_Load event, which is fine, but I had to move the setting of the RichText property to the Page_PreRender event.
