I have my View.ascx and when I drop my Uploader.ascx control on it, it works fine. However I actually need my Uploader.ascx control to live in ItemEdit.ascx and then I will place ItemEdit.ascx onto View.ascx.In this scenario my Uploader.ascx does NOT function properly. Any properties I set get wiped out on postback. So for example, my Uploader.ascx will take a property called "RootFolder". On postback this value is gone and therefore my file does not save to the RootFolder.I am just dropping this control, I am not dynamically creating it.Is there a reason it works when dropped directly onto View.ascx but does not work when used as a child control on child control of View.ascx? In summary:this works:View->Uploaderthis fails:View->ItemEdit->Uploader

this is a normal asp.net issue i.e. child controls are not persisted -you either have to reset the values or use a control such as http://www.denisbauer.com/ASPNETControls/DynamicControlsPlaceholder.aspx that does it for you.

But they are persisted one level deep from View.ascx. I can drop a control on View.ascx and it retains it's properties.

Very strange. I don't think it's normal.

ah, sorry i thought you were using LoadControl, but i see how you're using embedded user controls - in that case it is odd, i'd suggest stepping through it in a debugger in case an event in one control resets the values by mistake
