I am looking for a way to add user verification to a desktop application that is only obtainable through my website. I am curious if anyone knows of where I need to start or of an existing API/webservice to allow me to verify user's credentials through a c# desktop application.

Thanks for any help.

you may either use iWeb (iweb.adefwebserver.com) or new service framework (see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/3330/Services-Framework-Makes-Its-Debut-in-CTP2-of-DotNetNuke-6-2.aspx and http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/3327/Getting-Started-with-DotNetNuke-Services-Framework.aspx)

I'm not sure if that is what I am looking for. Is there a better example usage being cooked up?

What I am attempting to do is have a desktop application (used from several non network connected computers) send the credentials to DNN for validation and be able to get user information. Similar to how the Facebook/Google APIs work for login validation.

I was going to go directly against the database, but I'm a bad hacker and cannot figure out the encryption methods to get the same encrypted key, and I'd rather not leave passwords unencrypted.
