Hi,

the old Feedback version worked nicely in the sense that it displayed well "right out of the box". With the new 6.1.0 this isn't the case at all.

See the example, on this web page: http://www.katjakastrup.de/de-de/kont...

I have spend hours trying to get the black shadows off the fileds and such, with no success. The old version displayed correctly right out of the box. So the update really made things worse for me.

Is there a simple non-web-designer way to let the feedback module display like the old one did?

All the best, jk

Hi Joerg,

The module now displays the fields primarily in line with the defaults of your site. So the background of your text boxes are set as RGB(38, 38, 38) in your site skin (Sakura). This would be easy to override if you are able to edit the skin.css or style.css being used on your site. The height of the text boxes to my eye looks to small. This is because your skin specifically overrides some top and bottom padding values which shrink the height of the boxes.

I can provide advise on which files to edit and what to add if you can describe exactly what you are trying to achieve.

Cheers
Roger

Roger,

thank you for offering help - even though I kind-of have the feeling that the module should work "as is" without expert help :-).

Anyway, I would like
1 the Text in the entry-fields to be plain Black on white
2 The length of the fileds to be sensible (i.e. the Phone# field is way too wide)
3 the separator-lines between the section in the box not extending beyond the box to the right.
4 the height of the boxes be "normal/sensible"
5 have the "required" fields display the red line in front
6 Have the comment on the top right ("Pflichtfelder/Required fields") with the red line not extend beyond the frame of the module to the right.

I know, that's a lot. Isn't there a simple way? Does all that really have to be changed in the Skin itself? If possible, I'd rather leave the skin as it is and override it in the module. If not, I can try changing the skin (though I don't even know where these files are).

Just a thought: The DNN Login Module also uses white text boxes. These behave/display very well in the black sakura skin. See under Menu-Point "login". Could it be that your Feedback Module is inheriting the wrong properties from the skin?

Again, thank's a lot in advance!

Hi Joerge,

If you were to install this on a default DNN site, the module does work fine. Unfortunately it is not possible for the module to take account of every different style that someone may wish to apply to a site. So your Sakura skin applies some specific styling overriding the default site, and also applies some specific styling to the Feedback module.

With the upgrade to DNN 6, there is a desire to apply consistent styling across all elements of the interface to get to greater standardisation. Unfortunately again, this will have an impact on the way some skins are applied to sites.

As to a simple way, you could go back to the previous version of the module. It will run on DNN 6. If it works fine for you, why upgrade?

I am prepared to give a hand to making some minor adjustments, but I'm not peraped to do the complete list of tweaks you desire. It would be worth going to the person who designed your skin to ensure it is compatible with a DNN 6 site.

There seem to be couple of major problems:-

  • Your site is adding an extra styling tag 'form_style'. Not sure where that comes from, but it is one reason the background is black.
  • Secondly your site applies a black background to all text boxes defined as 'NormalTextBox'. I could possibly remove this styling element, but on balance I fear this will affect others who are specifically using the style against the module. I would rather not remove capability to solve a problem on a specific site. It would be better to apply a style to your site that deals with how your site overrides the default.
  • You site specifically overrides some height and width elements, these could be removed or edited so that they use default. For instance you say the telephone field is too wide, but this is specifically set in your skin to be 70% of the module width. The difference from previously is that some controls are now not being overridden, which can be corrected.
  • The red line is missing because of the form_style tag being added

Feel free to email your skin to webmaster @ the domain in my profile, and I'll see whaty I can do.

Regards
Roger

Roger,

I begin to think that's too much tewaking to do for my web-skill.

I've now gone back to the old version 5.01 which looks decent on my site right out of the box. It appears to do all I want, so it's fine. It's a little sad being "cut off" from the modules future, but at least this works :-)

Thank you very much though for spending your time on this on a Sunday!
