I'm guessing the answer is no, but is there any way to allow the Media module to play .mp4 files?  When I try to upload an mp4 file to the module it gives me this error:

File type mp4 is not valid in this context.
Valid File Types Include: jpg,jpeg,jpe,gif,bmp,png,swf,AVI,MPEG,MP3,ASF,ASX,WMA,WMV,WAV,MIDI,QT,MOV,RM,RAM,RPM

If it's not possible to play .mp4 files in this module, could anyone recommend a free one that does allow this?

Thanks!

Looks like you found a media type that wasn't included in this release.  Whoops!  I will look into including it in a future version.  Sorry.  Here is the issue I just added in the issue tracker for this feature:

Will, thanks for the reply.  I'm surprised no one has mentioned that mp4 is not supported in the Media module.  There is one thread that got picked up and reposted all over that can be found in google but there was never any resolution.  I guess if he would have posted the question here something may have gotten done heh.

I look forward to the update.  In the meantime, I'm just going to write a script that converts users files from mp4 to mov after upload as a temporary work around.

I am equally surprised that it wasn't included.  Hopefully I don't find a security reason to not include it.  That's my only fear.

I didn't see any red flags to prevent me from including MP4 support in the next release.  The code has already been updated, and checked-in.  Expect it in the next release.
