Hello,

I am trying to use the media module on my site. currently running the latest upgrade 6.01.04 and the media module is the ver. 4

When I attempt to upload a file it gives me this error:

File type mpg is not valid in this context. Valid File Types Include: jpg,jpeg,jpe,gif,bmp,png,swf,.swf,.avi,.wmv,.midi,.wav,.asx,.mp3,.mpeg,.asf,.wma,.ram,.rpm,.rm,.mov,.qt,.mp4

I have checked the "Host Settings" and the mpg file type is listed in the list of files. I have also gone to File Manager and done a sync as well. Is there something else I am missing????

Thanks,

Tony

Are you sure MPG is listed in your allowed upload types? What you pasted in your post doesn't have MPG listed only MPEG

Thanks for the reply Chris,

This is what is in the Host Settings on the "other settings" tab:

swf,jpg,jpeg,jpe,gif,bmp,png,doc,docx,xls,xlsx,ppt,pptx,pdf,txt,xml,xsl,xsd,css,zip,template,htmtemplate,ico,csv,avi,mpg,mpeg,mp3,wmv,mov,wav

As you can see, mpg is listed just in front of mpeg. avi is also listed and it will not alow me to upload that type either.

I tried to FTP these files but even when I do this the files will not show up in the "select existing file" box that appears. I finally got a .mov file to work but so far that is the only file type I can get to work.

Thanks again,

Tony

Also be sure that you re-synchronize your file system.  You can do this in your Admin > File Manager, using the Synchronize Files feature on the top-right of the file manager itself.  I would suggest also checking the "Recursive" checkbox to be more thorough.

If that doesn't work, it would be helpful to know which version of Media and DNN you're using. There are certain version combinations that don't work with specific file types due to API issues.

If you read my original post, I have done all that you suggested. Here are my specific versions in detail:

DNN ver: 06.01.04 (127)

Media module ver: 4.0.0 (Do I need to upgrade this?)

Thanks,

Tony
