I am new to DNN and i want to install the news module to my existing DNN project. I downloaded the zip file for the news module and i wasnt sure how to proceed after that. Inside that zip file i see a dll file, a couple of Sqldataprovider file, a resources zip file and a dnn file. Do these need to go under some specific directories of my existing project? Please advice. Thanks in advance.

1. Log in with your Host user account

2. Click on the menu option of Host -> Module Definitions

3. Click on "Install New Module" (should be at the bottom of the list of currently installed modules.

4. "Browse.." to find the zip file for the module and then click "Install New Module"

5. You will see install information display at the bottom of that page, check for any errors. If there are no errors click the "Return" link and then navigate to the page. If you have errors, note the error and come back here :)

Without any errors you will be able to add it to pages just like any other module.

Hope this helps.

Kerry

Thans Altissimo...that definitely helped. Also the current version for news feed module requires minimum dotnetnuke version of 4.6. I am running DNN version 4.3.x. Is it ok if i download a previous version of news feed module? Is there any significant issues with the old news feed module?

MZ,

You might be able to find a version of News Feed Module that works with that version of DNN, but I am not sure what version it would be.

It might be better option to think about upgrading to DNN 4.9.3 version. Then you can be pretty confident that any current version of new modules you add will work with your version of DNN.

Of course, as most will post on here... you need to have a test install of same version of DNN so that you can test your modules before installing them on production sites.

From this post http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Products/Development/Forge/ModuleNews/Downloads/tabid/865/Default.aspx i can see that the news feed module version 03.01.01 would work with my current DNN version(4.3). I was just worried if that news feed module had any significant drawback. I will give it a try and see if it works. Thanks
