Periodically, and apparently randomly, when I load any page with a DNN RSS Module the modules crash with a "Critical Error" and they don't display any information.  Sometimes it happens on initial page load and sometimes it happens when navigating backwards from the RSS story.

I'm running News module version 4.0.0.1, and it happens across different computers, browsers and when tried from different networks. I don't see a detailed error message... only Critical Error, then the RSS boxes are minimized.

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Robert

did you check out the EventViewer in admin menu for an associated entry? It might provide valuable details.

Thanks very much... didn't think to check there. This appears to be the error message associated with the crash. It happens very randomly every few days and has no apparent pattern when it occurs.

I recently created a totally different DNN portal and added the RSS module. The site is entirely different and shares no extra code or links from the site mentioned above. Today, the same critical error happened when I pulled up a page with a News module on it. The feed is from my Flickr page:

http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/activity/all?user_id=25653865@N00&secret=dVXusFOQvwNR0xWioU0oqkhM%2BWM%3D&lang=en-us&format=rss_200

Also, the error above happened in Internet Explorer 7, while the one below happened in Firefox 3 so it shouldn't be a browser issue.

Looks like it may be a bug?

Please help!
Robert

I am getting a similar error.

When the page loads IE throwns this error:

Sys.Webforms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500

Log viewer reports this message:

Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.Visibility.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
