I'm in no position to bash modules, but does this really only have 2 question types (multiple/single selection)? WSS has 11.

-Single line of text
-Multiple lines of text
-Choice (menu to choose from)
-Rating Scale (a matrix of choices or a Likert scale)
-Number (1, 1.0, 100)
-Currency ($, ¥, €)
-Date and Time
-Lookup (information already on this site)
-Yes/No (check box)
-Person or Group
-Page Separator (inserts a page break into your survey)

Many of them are superfluous, but at least a comments block (text box) seems -- if not handy -- necessary! Are there other survey modules that fill the gap?

Yes, I'll second this proposal.  For a version 4 module, it seems remarkably underdeveloped.   Is there any idea when an update is likely to be released?

most of them are not question types but data types or control types. There are a number of advanced question types used in eLearning scenarios and testing, e.g. free text (textbox), text with gaps (w or w/o a selection of answers), drag'n'drop associations, meter, ... Not all are applicable for a simple user survey, however. IMO there is a lot of room for improvements, are there developers, who want to join the team?

I agree the Survey module is inadequate. However instead of adding new features I have been concentrating on keeping it stable. As of today it still has bugs to be fixed.

I fixed most of the bugs including a new one caused by a Core change in November. The module has been in the release process since then. I have no control over when the module will be released.
