Hi there,

Just a couple of notes about this module:

I find that clicking the delete X to remove options form a survey does not delete the one that is hilighted; instead it deletes them in another order.. top down or bottom up, can't remember now... irritating in any case.

The other thing I'd like to see is the removal of the number ahead of the survey question. When the module is used for polls using a single question, it looks odd to have the number there.

Another thing is: there should be a logical way to retain a survey even if the module is removed from a page. Currently, deleting the module off a page wipes all the surveys too... I realise that is fairly logical given the DNN framework, but I accidentally wiped a lot of effort by trying to remove just one survey question. Perhaps this really needs some sort of survey manager addition that lets one save polls for future re-use.

Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the feedback.  These are good suggestions.

11 months and 4500 reads of this post later:

  • The icon to delete an option still does not delete the highlighted item - it deletes the one at the bottom of the list.
  • The icons to rearrange the options don't work either.

Is the module under development at all? I don't mind looking for an alternative, but of course always prefer to stay with core items.

Regards,

Rob

I was unable to recreate the problems people were having with the DNN3 version of the survey module. So what I did was rewrite the module from the ground up in ASP.NET 2.0 using Generics and the new ASP.NET controls. I also implemented Search and Import and Export. I saw that there were places where the logic could cause problems (the module was the work of a lot of people adding things over the years) so I restructured it.

So yes the module is still under active development. It has not been released yet because the Core has completely overhauled the release process to insure higher quality. Now the module has to jump through a lot of testing and review. This is a good thing.

Meanwhile...

Great stuff, I'm checking the beta out right now.

I'll test it in a sec.... so far so good.. says version 04.00.00

I can see the import/export on the menu.. that'll be fantastic to have - I've been rebuilding surveys by hand and then reapplying the figures by turning off cookies so that I could click away over and over.

Hurrah.. the rearrangement of the items works now... and I'll just assume deleting works because I'm testing this on a live site.

And I see you've also done the bit about removing the number is it's a single question survey - fabulous! (woops I spoke too soon on that one.. it gets replaced by the edit icon when logged in)

Thanks for providing the beta version - It looks like things are going well.

Rob
