Hi,

I'm trying a scheme for our Intranet where I use a combo of the NTForums and the Repository dashboard to help organize content. I have a single forum and a single repository page, and then, on individual pages (say, HR or Marketing) I display a relevant forums listing and Repository dashboard listing. This way, in theory, you can search for a document from the Repository page, or from the relevant HR / Marketing page.

It all displays nicely BUT ... if you click on a repository link to view that document, it redirects to the Repository page and then you have to open the document from there. This is very confusing to users because they don't know where they've landed or how to get back. I'd really just want the document to open directly from the Repository Dashboard.

Is it possible that we can enable this or that you can tell me how to make such a change? I'm not so familiar with the file & file opening features.

Thanks!

Tinky

I uploaded a new development build ( 13784 ) here...
http://www.gooddogs.com/dotnetnuke/Downloads/tabid/57/Default.aspx

Please read the DISCLAIMER before downloading and installing a Repository Development build on your environment

=======================================================================
03.01.14 Build 13784
Released 08.04.2007
=======================================================================

-- Added support for a DOWNLOAD setting on the FILENAME option for
   Dashboard file-type modules. Setting DOWNLOAD equal to true will
   change the behavior of hyperlinks for files in Dashboard modules,
   triggering the download dialog box instead of navigating to the
   Repository module and displaying the item.

example: dashboard.downloads.xml ( for a Dashboard set to display most popular downloads )

 <Object>
  <Token>[FILENAME]</Token>
  <Settings>
   <Setting>
    <Name>CssClass</Name>
    <Value>normal</Value>
   </Setting>
   <Setting>
    <Name>DOWNLOAD</Name>
    <Value>true</Value>
   </Setting>
  </Settings>
 </Object>

Ok upgraded to the newest version of dnn and installed the new repository module build. I changed the xml file as you stated but there is a small problem. When I am logged in as the host everything seems to work just as you stated it would. If I am not logged on as host the file names in the dashboard do not appear the number of time downloaded is there but the file names are not. Is there something else I must change.

On the Repository module's settings page, make sure that in the Download Roles section, you have 'All Users' checked.
