Is there a status on any of the items that are in the Gemini tracker? I am not seeing any activity in there either in the items or the road map. Also the last post on the Repository home page in the blog section is dated 2/28/06. I guess my bigger questions would be is there anywork going on for this modual and what are the plans for it's future. It is a major player in most of the things that I do.

I need to be able to assign the owner of an item in the repository to a different account then the one that uploaded it. For instance someone sent me something via email to post. I created the item. Now that person would like to edit it so I need to assign it back to them so they can edit it and get me out of the middle?

Hey Mark, thanks for the questions..

The plan for the Reepository module is as follows...

1. One more 'bug fix' release of the module on the .net 1.1 framework ( DNN 3.X ). I have just now started reviewing the current Gemini items and will try to include as many bug fixes as possible. With few exceptions, this release will not include enhancements, however, one or two highly requested one will most likely be included. This will be the FINAL release on the DNN 3.X/.net 1.1 framework.

2. A brand new DNN 4.X/.net 3.0 version will be developed. It will NOT be a straight port of the DNN 3.X version, but will be a re-architecture/re-write from the ground up. It will provide ALL of the existing Repository functionality and design, however it will include among other exciting enhancements, the ability to define your own data schema for each module instance, a more integrated template designer, list and detail views, more granular control over item security, and some other cool stuf.

Now, the important question .. timeframes ...

Although I have been unable to spend considerable time on Repository code over the past few months due to some Core Team internal committments, those have committments have been met and I can now turn my attention back to the Repository module. I sincerely expect to release the Repository 3.2 maintenance release sometime in the month of February, and the first release of the Repository 4.0 module around April/May of this year. ( fingers crossed )

Steve,

You mention a "new DNN 4.X/.net 3.0 version".

Do you think the majority is ready for .net 3.0 so soon?

Does this mean other core modules will jump to .net 3.0 also?

I'm using the .net 3.0 designation, but honestly it's .net 2.0.  Microsoft took the .net 2.0 development framework and combined it with 4 other development frameworks and named the whole package .. .net framework 3.0

Basically it means that future releases of the Repository module will require DotNetNuke 4.X to run and will not be compatible with any versions of DotNetNuke 3.X
