I was experimenting with the UDT module and discovered the Show Data As XML command.  I immediately saw a use for this as a way to feed data to a Javascript AJAX application running on the client side.  But I was disappointed to notice that the resulting XML only appears when I'm logged on as an administrator.  Other users can't see it, so I can't use it in my Javascript project.

Am I interpreting this correctly?  Are there other ways I can use UDT to enter data that can then be turned into an XML feed that anyone can read?

Wait, I think I may have solved my own problem, by enabling the RSS feed for the module. The RSS feed contains the data of my table in the description field, with each item separated by " • " and I can use that to split the data in my Javascript.

It's a bit inelegant, though, so I would still welcome other ideas.

the problem with DNN RSS feeds is, that they are using the same interface as the search indexer.

I think I understand what you're saying, but let me paraphrase you just to be sure.  Because the RSS feeds are updated on the same fixed schedule as the search indexer, changed made to data will not be reflected in the RSS feed immediately, is that correct?

I think I can live with the delay, because I only need to update this information rarely.  The ability to use UDT as a data-entry tool for XML output is useful enough to put up with small issues.

I was mostly focussing on the format of the data entries, which is optimized for Search results. I haven't checked out, how RSS relies on the interface exactly, if it is querying the module directly (using iSarcheable interface) ot the search index, sorry.
