Hi all,
i have wait for the new release to solve the rss feed issue.
I have a forum module that has changed from tabid 68 to tabid 54.
The RSS feed seems to works until somethings happened and than every feed point to the old 68 tab instead of tab number 54.
If i deselect RSS export in forum's configuration and than reselect it again all works for an half an hour.
Thanks in advance
Stefano

RSS feeds work just fine.  Please state your errors properly.  You need to say things like bug may occur if.. otherwise you confuse people.   First, are you certain this isn't a cache issue.  Forum rss feeds are stored in memory.

HI,
probably the feed works fine but yu'll agree with me that something between forum and DNN don't.
I have this problem only with the forum's module, all other module that use feed capability works very well.
This is non the first time that i have the problem so could you point me to some directions that can make me able to resolve this issue ?
Thanks in advance
Stefano

Thank you guys for a wonderful job you are doing. I have recently switched from vBulletin 3.0 (I will make another post along with the code I wrote to convert vBulletin data into DNN + Forums module, it took me 3-4 days but worth bit of it).

The reason I am replying to this thread is because I am seeing the same issue as OP. While looking at the forums source code here is what I found -

1. In ForumRss.vb mTabID is found as follows:

mTabID = mForumConfig.TabID

2. In ForumConfig.vb is found as follows:

mTabID = _portalSettings.ActiveTab.TabID

I am not intimately familiar with the codebase but if I understand this correctly the above code is assuming that the activetab reflects forums tab, but that will not be true when the Rss code is executing.

That is why I think I am seeing the homepage tabid generated in the Rss.

Appreciate if this can be looked into.

Thanks,
Annam

Hi Guys,

We have to understand there are two methods of syndication using this module.  The first is the core syndication which is actually based on search (ISearchable) and aside from that has nothing to do with the module.  Because of this, there is no way to expose items in a private forum to search for core search or this syndication.  This means that ForumRss.vb has nothing to do with this RSS. (Which is reachable only from solpart actions menu)

The other RSS is the per forum RSS.  Again, this is not useable for Private Forums.  This is reachable via the xml link at the bottom left in the forum footer of the threads view.  This one seems to be working fine to me and all this is handled by the forum module itself.

In both cases Private Forums are restricted because there would be some additional security concerns which we are not ready to address at this time.

If you guys can explain your situations a bit better considering what i just posted here, please do so than I can investigate further.
