Obviously it is beneficial for forum users to have signatures and hyperlinks to websites.

From what I have seen... the forums module signatures can allow hyperlinks using html coding... but there are no instructions on this and I was wondering if there is a way to do it along the lines of many other forums I use... such as [url=http://....]Text to Link[/url]   which is very simple and automatically sets a blank target.

I really prefer not to ask members to use link breaks, add target=blank etc to their signatures just to get a basic link... if there is another way using the forums module it would be great!

Thanks

David

AFAIK you must enter HTML to do the linking.

I personally feel that UBB type code is only easy to use for people who are familiar with it. While I agree it is probably easier than HTML, if someone doesn't know UBB code they are going to have the same issues as if they were using plain HTML. We are not going to add support for UBB code at any time.

I don't disagree that html isn't any more difficult... the thing is almost all the forums I have seen so far make it clear how to add links... and there is no need to add code to create a blank target.

The DNN Forums module doesn't seem to give the user any information, or simply a basic html toolbar to add such links.  As such, from what I understand I have to either create a post to explain to users how to create their signatures with links, or add a text/html module explaining it... and hope they add the blank target so others aren't driven away from the site and needing to go back or open it again.

I don't know what 'UBB' code is, unless you are referring to "ubiquitous" BB code.

So, rather than being driven by the commuity, the Core DNN forum continues to be a personal pet project.
Congratulations.
