Hi There,

The DotNetNuke web.config file contains (basically) two connection strings: the current connection string, and the "kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules" connection string.

I was having trouble getting the Forums module up and running on my portal ... until I realised that the two connection strings in my installation were out-of-sync.  Once I corrected the "kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules" connection string, everything worked properly.

My question: why is the Forums module using the older legacy connection string setting, rather than the current connection string?  Seems unusual that a Core Project would be using deprecated settings ...

Thanks!

T

Because that version of the forum module is based on the 1.1 ASP.NET framework, which is what is required to use that connection string.

So even though I've just installed the 04.04.04 Source version on .NET Framework 2.0.50727.832, the version of Forums that installs with that is for .NET Framework 1.1?

If you meen you installd DNN 4.04.04 Source and the Forum Version is 03.02.09 then you are right.  The next Version of the Forum Module will be in .Net 2.0

Regards

Matthias
