Hello

Is there a way to default the add attachment area to a folder that I have designated for public users to add their attachments to.

I am not going to give users access to root, and they might not realise that have to change their upload folder to be able to add an attachment to their thread.

Thanks
Daryl

You should setting the permissions over the File Manager.  Thats the only way.

It's a pity that you can't change the default attachment upload directory because now I need to put something like "If you want to add attachments, please change the directory to 'ForumAttachments'"

Thanks anyways.
Regards
Daryl

The forum uses the core's URL Controller. This is the recommended way to access files because it adheres to the core API for file access plus for security reasons. Unfortunately, the URL Controller does not have a method for a module to set the default directory.

Perhaps a different method should be used in that case.  It would be good to have the ability to sandbox attachments.  How about each registered user gets a attachment folder created when they first go to upload.  All subsequent attachments from that user go into the sandboxed user folder.

I notice that even with attachments off users can click on the hyperlink icon in FCK and get a dialog to link a file on the site. They can then browse through all directories in the portal.  This is nuts!  How can I lock this down and still allow people to insert hyperlinks?
