We're running DNN 4.9.2 with the core forum module for Dotnetnuke 4.04.03.  We using SQL 2008 with the DNN database in 90 mode and noticed certain indexes fail to rebuild.   The indexes typically have >50% fragmentation.

Is this a site specific condition?  Is this a performance issue?  How do we rebuild these indexes?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Not many information on your post.  Have you running your own SQL Server, is it Express version?  If the database have a size limit could it be that the log files are full?  I like to suggest to empty your DNN log files, and check the SQL log size, and trunk it if the size is big.

Thanks for your reply.  Those are good suggestions for everyone using DNN.  The SQL server 2008 Express is running on our Windows 2003 R2 x64 server.  We maintain the db's the log file such as Eventlog, Sitelog and ScheduleHistory by regularly truncating those tables.   The database does not have a size limit and generally sits a 150MB with 10% growth.

Do you have access to your databse?  Are those indexes regularly reorganized and/or rebuilt.  What is their current status of fragmentation?

Any suggestions are appreciated

Indexing running fine on my live system.

Was your forum previously a 3.x version?  Or is it first started as 4.3.0 ?

I forgot to say that there is no automated re-indexing.  If you are using ony the express edition you have to take the database offline and re-start it.
