The links for the forum RSS feeds are linking back to the page instead of the individual thread. Can you please tell me where in the code I can change it to link to the thread?

Also, RSS feeds are sporadic as news items elsewhere on the site, either returning errors or nothing at all. I disabled AJAX, rebuilt the indexes, and tried a few other tricks noted by others, but it is fails most of the time. This problem is secondary to the first, but I thought I'd mention it in case you know a quick way to correct it.

Thanks!

Brian, where are you seeing this exactly? First, I assume you are using the latest 4.5.3 and not an older version (and you are not talking about RSS available via DNN Core). Under this assumption, I verified that each RSS feed generates a general link (to the forum view, also one for "Subscribe to this Feed" for the particular forum. Both of these are the top part of the RSS feed). The next set of links are one for each thread which take you directly to the thread. In testing the release version to try and verify your issue, I found no issues at all. The only thing I want to add is that no private forum threads will appear in RSS feeds, this is by design.

Thanks for getting back to me!

This is a fresh installation of DNN 5..1.2 with included modules (I'm assuming the latest--I will check versions when I get back to work Monday). I am using core Forum and RSS modules. The behavior exists on both my development machine (XP/IIS 5.1) and our production box (Win Server 2003/IIS 7). I will give you more specific information Monday when I get back to work.

Thanks!

Core RSS is based on ISearchable, which the forum module has no control over (except what it submits for indexing, which hasn't been all that great to be honest and is only public posts because the search permissions are not granular enough for anything else). If the feeds you are talking about are the forum RSS, it will use a Forum_RSS.aspx page. The core just uses RSS.aspx I believe.

I am in fact using Forum 4.5.3 and News/RSS Feed 4.0.1, for what it's worth.

I also wrote my own RSS reader that was returning the same results. I have included an item node of the XML generated from the discussion forum. It appears the
node contains what should be in the
node:

Welcome to AlphaStart

Everyone,

Welcome to the Alpha Energy Dashboard. Put simply, this page is designed to bri...

Because the behavior is consistent and it is not a "known bug," I'm inclined to think it is a setting I need to adjust somewhere.

Thanks again!

Brian
