On installing the Forum 4.4.3 over a Forum 3.20.x it will upgrade it.

It did not in my case.  I went to the modules, install module, clicked the zip file for the new forum version.  Is there another way?  Since it did not, what would you recommend at this point?  Can I remove the module without it removing all of the forums from SQL?

Uninstall a Module deletes all Database artifacts.  So you loosed the data.

What am I doing wrong.  As a test I did this:

removed all forum references
installed forums 3.2.9
created a new topic, and 2 new threads
installed forums 4.4.3

and here is what I see:

Ah, you were right about it upgrading.  Even before, so I really did have phpbb imported to DNN 4 with the very latest forum module.

I needed to change the default settings to look for png files in the theme and it Was pointing to gif, so all the images were missing.
