Hi,

I'm having an Android app. written which uses a web service, running on my DNN web site , to take a "User Reference" and "PIN" to deliver documents.

I want to be able to use the DNN username but my web service doesn't have access to the password so it can't check it.

I'm able to deliver the required documents but without the security of checking for a valid password the username is all that is required. Is there a way to send the DNN username & password to the site and get a true or false type return? I don't want the user to have to go to the web site. Once I know the usename & password are a match I can safely use the username to deliver the documents.

Thanks in advance.

Jim.

Hi
I think you need to validate the user credential on top of the method delivering document. For this either you can modify the existing web service or create new one and call your web service inside that. Kind of nested web service.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying but is there some kind of DNN service which I can give the username & password to and get a valid or invalid indicator in return?

Regards,

Jim.

no, there's not , though it would be easy to write one using the service framework (use the UserController.ValidateUser API method to validate the user)
