I am new to DNN and having a problem instaling Forum_3.10.04_Install.zip into DotNetNuke_3.0.13.zip and getting the following errror.

I  have been searching to check compatibility and to get good info regarding installing DNN modules, without sucess

This is because you are using dnn 3.0.13.  In dnn 3.1 a new element was added to the dnn file which the forum module takes advantage of.  You could open the zip, edit the dnn file and remove the foldername node underneath the folder element as highlighted in that error.  I highly recommend that you upgrade your dnn install to 3.1.1 if you can though instead of altering the forum module install.  I recommend this because the 3.1.1 core offers enhancements and bug fixes which have been made over the past 6 months or so.

Thanks for the info, i will do it for the purpose of testing and then i will reinstall 3..1.1 once i find an unistall procedure ( i dont have full access to the DB at the hosting company.

 

 

i thought it might be a compatiblity issue. But i did not find any such info. I beleive the documentation need to be improved for the DNN projects to include such issues.

 

It was also not clear how to install a new DNN module, and was teasy to find such information, i have it by trial and error

Thanks for the feedback.  I have released a forum document which describes everything from installing all the way to using and administration along with setup of the module's configurations.  Please see the forum project downloads section to download the document. 

Haha, now nobody can use the no documents line :)

(No offense, it is just nice to have docs so I can say that)

I have this broblem, it might be diffirent. Can anyone help me with tha

 .Development Environment

            _ DotNet Framework 1.1

            _ Visual Studio 2003

            _ SQL Server 2000 (personal)

            _ DotNetNuke version 3.1.1

 

2. Broblem with installing the DNN Forum version 3.10.04

Steps:

·        Login as the DotNetNuke witj Host account

·        Upload the module definition by using the access path  Host>ModuleDefinition> Upload New Module

·        In the File Upload page, I selected  the Resource.zip of Forum then clicked Add . After that I click the link button Upload New File and see the  error

·        Upload Status and error
