Yay... Take Me to the Community!

Unfortunately, the request is that each member has the ability to create a couple private forums and invite any number of other members to participate in their forums. So effectively, every member can be an admin of a small number of forums...

Yes, an interesting request, one that I am hoping I'm up to the challenge :D

Does the current forum version allow an admin to CREATE a private forum that is only accessible by certain users that he adds?
This is slightly different in that the user wouldn't be CREATING the forum, just accessing it privately (only approved users could view and access it).

I know other forums have this capability. I currently use MegaBBS, which is an excellent (free) ASP forum, but I'd like to use the forum module if possible.

In the version close to releasing, there is a permission grid structure which mimics the core. What this means is you can add access (all types of various levels) per role or per user tied to a forumID. The core does the same thing w/ module permissions in DNN 4.5 or later I believe it was.

That's great to hear Crispy - I have a definite need for separate forums, i.e. only allowing users to access specific forums and not others.

To use this feature, will it be ncessary to install DNN 4.5? I'm hoping not!
