My client has an interesting request that I'm not sure if DNN's forums can do. He wants his users to have the ability to create up to 3 "private" forums. These forums are just like any other DNN forum group, with the exception that the only people who can see it are the creator and anyone he "invites" into the forum (and probably the admin role).

Can DNN Forums do this? And if not, anyone know of any 3rd party forums that can? And if not, any thoughts on extending the DNN forums to handle this?

No, this is not possible. I do not know any forum module that does this. I don't know any forum software outside of DNN that does this either. In this module, and any other forum solution I have seen, the user needs to have some type of administration capabilities to add forums. Because of the precedent set by all others I have seen I don't think we will be adding this to this module. Even if you programmatically created this in another module, I am not sure how you could handle the invite parts as right now everything in this module is handled via role for private access.

As I mentioned, it's a pretty unique request and fortunately it's not super high on the priority list, so I have plenty of time to figure out how I'm going to implement this.

Neither of these forums appears to be integrated with DNN. I really need this to be part of DNN.

I'll probably end up customizing the current Forum to do this.
