Without being able to reproduce the problem it is rather difficult for me to diagnose.  If you are able to get it on a webserver to review let me know.

I too have the problem - suspect it has to do with IE 7 as I have sites on two different hosting companies each with different versions; 4.5.5 and the latest version.

i have a url you can use but I have to keep it private. It demonstrates this problem of the expanding module which collapses immediately. This is with IE 7 on Vista (the only browser I have tested on). If you want the url to test please contact me.  thank you.

Not sure how to email you.  Just email me the info at jon.henning AT dotnetnuke.com.  Please include a link to this thread in the email.

I can provide a url, but the issue actually happens on any dotnetnuke site that has the expand/collapse on their containers while viewing in IE7 (and I believe only on Vista).  When I click the collapse, it collapses and then immediately does a post back.  Once the postback completes and the page rerenders, the container has expanded again.  The same is true in reverse when trying to expand.  I have IE7 on XP at work and this doesn't happen.  I have Firefox both at work on XP and at home on Vista.  I only experience this issue at home in IE7 on Vista.  Extremely frustrating.  I prefer to use IE because I like the content rendering better, but I have now switched to FireFox to be able to manage my site (http://piedmontok.org/dn - under development).

Any help would be appreciated.  My thoughts are that this is an IE7 install on Windows Vista (don't know about Mac).  If this is a Microsoft issue, I don't expect we will get a quick response to it getting fixed.  I wonder if a dotnetnuke project could be undertaken to see if a workaround can be implemented... something like evaluating the state (collapse or expand) of the click event on the postback and then rendering the desired result.  It's still irritating that it has to post back, but at least you don't have to do it multiple times.

To help anyone looking to recreate, I will be adding a post that has the steps I have to take to perform a simple collapse/expand in IE7 on Vista.

Wow!  As I was documenting this, I've found a perfect recreation of the problem (on my computer at least).  Again, this is IE7 on Vista.  If someone that has this is still not able to recreate the issue, we can get specific with service packs and such if need be.  I really want to get this fixed.

Ok... here we go.  The site you'll be looking at is one that I am developing.  The skins and layout may change, but this behavior should still persist.  I'll post again if I have anything significant to add to the troubleshooting.  Be sure to read the steps ahead fully before starting through the scenario.  It's important that you do not hover over the menus by mistake.  Also, I did not bother to clear cache, cookies, or change any other settings.

1.  Go to http://piedmontok.org/dn

2.  DO NOT hover over any of the menus.  Navigate around them to hover over the expand/collapse icon on one of the containers.  Click to collapse/expand.

3.  The container will collapse/expand as desired.  Your browser should immediately perform a postback (let this occur).  When the page is rendered (remember DO NOT hover over any menus), the container may or may not be in the state you desire (didn't spend a lot of time on this part...)

4.  You can click on the collapse/expand icon repeatedly now and it will continue to post back and reset itself.

5.  NOW... hover over one of the menus (doesn't matter which)

6.  Go back to the same container and click the collapse/expand icon.  It should perform the desired action with no postback.

Please post any variations anyone has seen to this scenario.

Thanks.
